Interesting use of the prompt! As in, how serious for polka dots. I would say awesome, but it doesn't match the tone of this slice-lifey story. I love the slice-lifey bit. And very smooth flowing story. I think it's interesting coming from Ohno's pov, meaning to see through the eyes of someone who had not lost, but has an affiliation with the tragedy in another way. I like the fact that Ohno kept going back with the suitcase, lugging it around, even though the police told him to turn it in somewhere else. It seems...Ohno-ish; the type to be bothered about the little things about where to turn it in and if it goes to the correct place. Others would rather just do something to throw it off their hands quickly. These versions of Ohno and Matsumoto (Nino too) are so very dear.
