Title: Home Field Advantage
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairings: Matsumoto Jun, Ninomiya Kazunari/Kamenashi Kazuya
Summary: Jun doesn’t think Nino’s the most comfortable pillow, but Kame’s a little lost, and Nino’s far nicer than he tends to let on.
Notes/Warnings: An End of 2009 Request from
katmillia who wanted some combination of Jun, Nino and Kame. Because she's icky, I decided to take her prompt seriously instead. HAHA.
“We’re supposed to be taking care of him,” Jun snits, looking over the top of his glasses. “Not making him puke up his internal organs.”
Nino shrugs, and Jun smirks as Kamenashi downs another glass of Jun’s (not exactly cheap) Pinot Noir.
“It’s not grape juice.”
“It’s not grape juice,” Nino mocks him, ruffling poor Kame’s hair. “I’ll get you another bottle for your birthday.”
Kamenashi’s ignoring the both of them, paying far more attention to each little droplet left in the glass. Probably figures it’s rude to not drink every last bit of alcohol offered by his senpai - Jun’s always appreciated Kamenashi’s understanding of hierarchy. But Nino’s already pouring the guy another glass, and Jun wants to kick him out.
Akanishi’s gone off to America to learn English or find himself or something selfish like that - something Jun might have thought about for a split second and immediately dismissed in the early days. Arashi has always meant too much to throw away. Nino might have taken Akanishi’s path though, directing aspirations that he had when they were younger. But the both of them stayed - they don’t really get what Kame’s going through, the chaos, the gap Akanishi’s leaving behind.
“You’ll pull through,” Jun says, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. “But drinking’s not going to bring Jin back.”
“What are you ordering? Better not be pizza,” Nino’s complaining as Jun scans through half a dozen take-out menus on his laptop screen.
“What do you care? I’m paying for it.”
“You don’t have to buy food for me, senpai,” Kame mumbles, voice getting lost in the wine glass.
“Ah, let him spoil you,” Nino continues, relaxing on the couch and putting his feet on Kamenashi’s lap almost like he expects a massage. “He never spoils me.”
“Just for that, pizza.”
“Bastard,” Nino teases him back, smartly sipping the rest of Jun’s organic orange juice. He probably won’t replace that either.
Jun places the food order, staying in his own chair as Nino lets Kame snuggle up, fluffy head on his shoulder. Jun doesn’t think Nino’s the most comfortable pillow, but Kame’s a little lost, and Nino’s far nicer than he tends to let on. “I feel stupid having to come to you. I have four other members I could bother about this kind of shit,” Kame admits, but Nino just squeezes his arm.
“Nah, this is why we’re here,” Nino says, and it’s not an act.
The pizza arrives, and Jun is able to hold in his disgust as they eat at his coffee table. Nino picks toppings off, dumping them unceremoniously on Kame’s slice, and because the younger guy’s drunk and because he’s their junior, he eats it all.
Jun pokes Nino with his foot under the table, and instead of half-watching the lame variety show on TV, they start to talk baseball. None of them get to watch many games - they don’t even get to read recaps too often. They talk about sports in high school, and since Jun’s never been a pitcher, Nino and Kame end up in a world of their own before too long.
Kame’s mood doesn’t get that much brighter since his work’s just going to be tougher for however long Jin stays away (if he bothers to come back at all). Jun packs up the leftovers and cleans up the glasses and when he comes back from the kitchen, Nino’s kissing their kohai like he’s in his own home.
He closes his laptop, hearing Kame sigh against his bandmate’s mouth and hopes that this will do more help than harm for the younger man’s mental state.
“Good night,” he says before heading for his bedroom, getting no reply.

When he wakes, Nino’s stolen all his covers and Kame’s left a politely written thank you note on Jun’s fridge.
